이번 전시에서 선보이는 작품은 각자의 고유한 신체를 매개로 합니다. 관람자 각자의 신체는 공간에 멈춰 있는 것과 움직이는 것을 연결합니다. 빛과 그림자의 경계를 관찰하는 경험을 통해 우리의 몸 안에서 느끼는 감정과 찰나의 순간을 탐구합니다. 초기 작업부터 아홉 번째 버전까지 작품은 모터, 기어, 베어링과 같은 기계 메커니즘을 통해 빛의 굴절과 산란을 증폭시키는 실험을 지속하며 고유한 서사와 공간 시학을 제시해왔습니다. LED에서 발산하는 ‘빛의 방향성'과 'DOT의 흐름'을 이용하여 속도감을 표현하고자 합니다. LED 광채는 주변의 정지된 공간과 대조되며, 속도와 움직임의 감각을 부여합니다. 이를 통해 정적인 상황에서도 동적인 느낌을 제공하여 시공간의 경계를 넘어선다는 느낌을 전달합니다.
작품은 우리의 시각 시스템이 시간에 따라 변화하는 이미지를 어떻게 처리하고 해석하는지에 대한 문제를 제기합니다. 인간의 시각 시스템은 프레임을 계산하는 것 이상으로 복잡하며, 신경학적, 인지적, 생리적 측면이 모두 관련되어 있습니다. 우리의 눈은 빛의 강도, 색상, 형태, 움직임 등 다양한 요소를 동시에 처리하고 하나의 연속적인 경험으로 통합합니다. 작품은 다각화된 차원의 배치를 절대적인 시간(초) 단위로 분배하여 관람객에게 전달합니다. 이를 통해 기계 미학의 물리적 체현과 인간의 감각계의 확장적 사고의 가능성을 재고합니다.
The artwork presented in this exhibition is mediated by each individual's unique body. Each viewer's body connects what is stationary and what is moving in the space. Through the experience of observing the boundaries of light and shadow, it explores the emotions and fleeting moments felt within our bodies. From the initial work to the ninth version, the artwork has continued experiments that amplify the refraction and scattering of light through mechanical mechanisms such as motors, gears, and bearings, presenting a unique narrative and spatial poetics. Utilizing the 'directionality of light' emitted from LEDs and the 'flow of DOT,' it aims to express a sense of speed. The LED glow contrasts with the surrounding stationary space, imparting a sense of speed and movement. Through this, it provides a dynamic feeling even in static situations, conveying a sense of transcending the boundaries of time and space.
The artwork raises questions about how our visual system processes and interprets images that change over time. The human visual system is more complex than merely calculating frames, involving neurological, cognitive, and physiological aspects. Our eyes simultaneously process various elements such as light intensity, color, shape, and movement, integrating them into a continuous experience. The artwork distributes the diversified dimensional arrangement in absolute time (seconds) units to the audience. Through this, it reconsiders the possibility of the physical embodiment of mechanical aesthetics and the expansive thinking of the human sensory system.
